Speaking to Ada TV, Vice President of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce Aziz Limasollu made striking assessments regarding the electricity problem:
IF IT STARTED TODAY, IT WOULD BE OVER IN 5 YEARS
Stating that many businesses are about to be closed, Vice President of the KTTO Aziz Limasollu stated that the electricity price hike should be reduced from 2.70 TL to 2 TL, and that the difference should be covered from the funds to be created. Stating that now is the perfect opportunity for one of his biggest dreams, bringing electricity from Turkey via cable, Limasollu noted that the project is not very easy and that if it were started today, it could only be finished in 5 years.
SAFA’S PROJECT WAS CORRECT
Limassollu, who recalled the words of Star Kıbrıs Board Chairman Ali Özmen Safa about the missed opportunity to bring electricity from Turkey via cable 16 years ago, said, “I also listened to Mr. Ali Özmen Safa’s statements. Safa’s idea was really a very correct project. If Safa’s project had been implemented, we would have been able to send the electricity we produced with solar energy to Turkey. This project was rejected that day, but every setting sun will rise again. We will look back to today. We can still benefit from this project.”
ORIGINAL IDEAS NEEDED
Aziz Limasollu, who noted that our contract with AKSA will end in 2024 and that the state needs to create a structure that can work on the project of bringing electricity via cable, continued his words as follows: “A separate unit should be created outside of KIB-TEK. We had prepared and submitted a law for this. It is not just ours, there are many experts working on energy. We can bring together experts in the field and produce much better ideas. We need original ideas independent of politics.”
